2020 State Lane Merlot
The State Lane Merlot is a benchmark wine from Goosecross Cellars, and is sourced from in the heart of Napa Valley. This special vineyard produces some of their most sought-after wines. It sit on a famed alluvial fan which is ideally suited for growing vines on the valley floor due to the free-draining soils. The soils and micro-climate provide balanced vine growth, from which high-quality fruit stems. There are two blocks of Merlot planted on State Lane, each with a defined and unique characteristic allowing wines to be crafted with balance, finesse, depth and intrigue.

The story
Goosecross is a winery in Yountville, located in Napa Valley, with a history spanning four decades. Currently owned by Christi and Dave Ficeli, who developed their passion for wine while working with a different winery in Modesto, California, they eventually realized their dream of owning a family winery. Despite career diversions, their ambition to establish roots in Napa Valley led them back to Goosecross, reflecting their deep connection to the region.
The winery maintains its long legacy in Napa Valley, focusing on hospitality and the traditional values of winemaking. Christi and Dave, alongside winemaker Bill Nancarrow, produce distinct, vineyard-driven wines, reflecting a balance between land and winery. Their approach combines traditional winemaking with modern techniques.
Goosecross offers a unique experience where farming, vine cultivation, and winemaking meet hospitality. The Tasting Room and Deck provide a serene setting for visitors to enjoy the wines and the picturesque Napa Valley, blending rural charm with contemporary quality and hospitality.
